One of the best things about paddling with Esprit is our amazing collection of skilled, knowledgeable and fun guides. Here is a chance to get to know them a bit better!

Jim Coffey, Director

Jim heads up Team Esprit. He has made a full time career canoeing, kayaking and
rafting around the world. Jim is a world-renowned specialist in Swiftwater Rescue and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician. He passionately expresses his social and environmental advocacy and has woven his principals into the fabric of Esprit.

Barbara Hinojosa, Logistics

Barbara adorns Esprit with the spirit and culture of Mexico/Costa Rica. She is one of Mexico's first female adventure guides and has worked in Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Israel and Scotland. She adds a special touch and flavour to our operation. Barbara leads rafting, inflatable kayaking and Week of Adventure trips.

Stanley Esquival

Stanley is our head kayak guide in Costa Rica. He is the most prominently featured paddler in Chasing Jaguars, the primary guide book to paddling in CR. Stanley is fluent in Spanish and English and is exceptionally talent at leading our guests down our rivers.

Martin Breu, Trip Leader

Smart...very smart!

Martin Breu aka The Great Gonzo is our Lead Canoe Guide for Team Esprit. A well known expert OC1 paddler, GONZO adds additional expertise to our canoe programs. Martin is fluent in English, German and French...he is working on his Spanish!

Andrew & Carole Westwood,

Guest Paddlers Andrew and Carole Westwood join Esprit in Costa Rica Dec. 28-Jan. 4. Andrew is technically one of the world's best paddlers/instructors. Carole adds an additional instructor and specializes in building confidence for new paddlers. We are excited to have them join us!

Eli Helbert

Eli Helbert joins the Team Esprit Jan. 18-25. World Champion, Steep Creeker, Amazing Instructor and all around GREAT guy. It is no wonder he is called The Canoe Guru. Take the opportunity to meet one of the world's greatest paddlers.

Mark is one of Canada's best known paddlers. Le is amongst the legends of the sport and represents some of the most popular paddling brands such as Esquif, Kokatat, and Werner. We are pleased to have Mark join team Esprit as a guest paddler in February!
